Welcome to the Mason Dixon Log and Beam website. Mason Dixon Log and Beam is a small local company that specializes in designing and building homes, cabins, and log structures utilizing salvaged antique logs and beams sourced from old barns, log cabins, and outbuildings. Almost all of our logs and beams date from 1700's - 1800's. Most logs are hand hewn (meaning they were cut and meticulously hand shaped with an axe by our forefathers and the early pioneers) and consist of wood from Oak, Heart Pine, Ash, Hickory, and American Chestnut Trees. (American Chestnut is a tree that has been extinct for over 100 years). Most of the buildings and barns we utilize for gathering our logs were either collapsing, in various stages of deterioration, or were destined for the firewood pile. We take pride in the fact that we find extremely creative ways to save and repurpose these beautiful pieces of American history.

Our team are specialists in reconstruction of historic log structures.   We have saved many log buildings from being destroyed. We also build new buildings with logs recovered from those historic homes and barns.  Whether it’s an outbuilding or a complete log home, every structure we create uses salvaged antique logs and is thoughtfully designed in-house — blending timeless craftsmanship with today’s modern amenities
